A small planting of Gruner Veltliner was established in 2017 on some older rootstock in Mount Barker. We have always enjoyed the variety from its Austrian origins as well as some great examples coming out of other places in Australia. The cool nights of Mount Barker and the long growing season seem to suit Gruner Veltliner, with it being the last white varietal to be picked, often falling into April. We have seen a character and concentration increase since the inaugural wine in 2019, with the 2023 wine being the best we have made in our opinion.
